CORE PRINCIPLE
LESS digital instruments are built with Data Minimalism and Privacy by Design. We do not track, profile, or sell your data. Application content is stored locally unless a feature explicitly uses an Apple system service described below.
1. Data Storage & Architecture
By default, our applications operate entirely locally within your device’s secure operating system sandbox.
Information created by an application is stored locally in its operating system sandbox. Some features use Apple system services: LESS AI sends prompts to the selected Apple Intelligence model. LESS CAL uses Apple Intelligence for its journal and iCloud for synchronization, as described below. Optional Apple Health access is read-only; LESS CAL does not upload Health data or write journal entries to Apple Health. Only a protected, derived Health snapshot is shared locally with widgets through the app group.
In LESS CAL, a protected local copy of the journal is kept on your device. Saved entries, corrections and deletion markers synchronize through your private CloudKit database between devices using the same Apple Account. Drafts, queued AI messages and suggestions remain on the device. Offline changes are saved locally and synchronize when iCloud is available. Changing iCloud accounts pauses synchronization to keep the journal separate. We do not operate a journal server or have access to users’ private CloudKit databases.
Apple Intelligence interprets the text you send, entries for the selected day and compact recent correction context. LESS CAL prefers Private Cloud Compute when available and uses the on-device Apple model as a fallback. Private Cloud Compute requests are processed by Apple’s privacy-preserving infrastructure, not by a LESS backend. There are no third-party AI accounts or API keys. Availability depends on your device, Apple Intelligence settings and Apple services.
2. Accounts & Authentication
We do not maintain user accounts, independent databases, proprietary login systems, or marketing mailing lists. Device authentication may be used locally to protect private content. iCloud features use your existing Apple Account; no separate LESS account is created.
3. Zero Third-Party Trackers & Advertising
Our applications contain zero third-party behavioral analytics, advertising SDKs, or monetization trackers (no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Meta Pixel, no data brokers).
Anonymous, aggregate diagnostic and installation metrics are provided solely by Apple through App Store Connect, subject to your system-level privacy preferences.
4. Device Permissions
When an application requests hardware or operating system permissions, such as camera, photo or Apple Health access, they are used only for the described feature. LESS CAL registers for silent synchronization notifications to receive iCloud changes; it does not use them for marketing alerts.
5. Data Retention & Control
You control the content saved in our apps. In LESS CAL, deleting a journal entry also synchronizes the deletion to your devices. A minimal deletion marker is retained to prevent old offline copies from restoring the entry. Uninstalling removes local app data according to iOS behavior but does not delete your iCloud journal. You can manage the app’s iCloud storage through Apple’s settings. Apple Health records remain in Apple Health.
6. Updates & Inquiries
We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in legal requirements or platform capabilities. Any updates will be published directly to this page.
